Your song library is the foundation of your repertoire in BookLive. This guide covers how to add, edit, and organize songs for easy access during performance planning.
Creating a New Song #
- Navigate to your group’s Songs section
- Click Add Song
- Enter the song title
- Enter the artist name
- (Optional) Select a music collection to organize the song
- Click Save
Song Details #
Each song in your library can include:
- Title – The song name
- Artist – Original artist or composer
- Music Collection – Folder for organization
- Video URL – Link to a YouTube or other video
- Tags – Categories for filtering (genre, mood, occasion)
- Ensemble Associations – Which group configurations can perform it
Editing Songs #
To edit an existing song:
- Find the song in your library
- Click on the song to open its detail page
- Click Edit
- Make your changes
- Click Save
Adding Video References #
You can attach YouTube videos to songs for reference:
- Open the song’s detail page
- Find the video section
- Paste a YouTube URL
- The video will embed for easy viewing
This is helpful for musicians to learn arrangements or for showing clients what to expect.
Publishing Songs #
Songs have a publication status:
- Published – Visible to clients and in public repertoire
- Unpublished – Only visible to group members
Toggle the publication status from the song detail page.
Deleting Songs #
To delete a song:
- Open the song’s detail page
- Click Delete
- Confirm the deletion
Deleted songs are soft-deleted, meaning they can be recovered if needed. Associated timeline entries are also cleaned up.
Tips for Building Your Library #
- Be consistent – Use consistent naming conventions
- Add artist names – This helps with searching and organization
- Use collections – Organize songs into logical groupings
- Tag appropriately – Tags make filtering and searching faster
- Keep it current – Remove songs you no longer perform
