Table of Contents
Performance timelines allow you to plan exactly which songs will be played during each segment of an event. This guide covers how to add, arrange, and manage songs within timelines.
Accessing the Timeline #
To add songs to a performance timeline:
- Open the performance
- Navigate to the Timeline section
- Select the timeline segment where you want to add songs
Adding Individual Songs #
- Click Add Songs within a timeline segment
- Use the search to find songs in your library
- Click on a song to add it
- The song appears in the timeline
The Song Selection Dialog #
When adding songs, the selection dialog shows:
- Song name and artist
- Music collection – Which folder it’s in
- Configurations – Which ensembles can perform it
- Tags – Category labels
- Scores – Number of available arrangements
Filtering Available Songs #
Narrow down song choices using filters:
- By tags – Select one or more tags to filter results
- By collection – If the performance has linked collections
- By configuration – Based on the assigned ensemble
Adding Entire Setlists #
To quickly add a pre-arranged group of songs:
- Click Add Setlist
- Select the setlist to add
- All songs from the setlist are added in their saved order
Creating Songs on the Fly #
If a song isn’t in your library yet:
- Click Create New Song in the add dialog
- Enter the song title and artist
- The song is added to your library and the timeline
Reordering Songs #
Arrange songs in your preferred order:
- Drag and drop songs to reposition them
- Changes are saved automatically
- Consider flow and energy when arranging
Removing Songs #
To remove a song from the timeline:
- Find the song in the timeline
- Click the delete/remove button
- Confirm the removal
This only removes the song from this timeline, not from your library.
Saving as a Setlist #
If you’ve created a great song arrangement:
- Click Save as Setlist
- Enter a name for the setlist
- The arrangement is saved for reuse in future performances
Duplicate Prevention #
BookLive prevents adding the same song twice to a timeline. If you try to add a duplicate, you’ll be notified that the song is already included.
Best Practices #
- Plan for flow – Consider energy levels and transitions
- Use setlists – Start with proven arrangements and customize
- Filter effectively – Use tags to find appropriate songs quickly
- Save good arrangements – Turn successful timelines into reusable setlists
