Before BookLive submits your website content to the design team, it runs a five-step Preflight Check. This review ensures your text, photos, branding, reviews, and videos are all ready to go — so your designer has everything they need without having to pause and wait for corrections. You must complete all five steps before your build can be submitted.
When Does the Preflight Check Appear? #
The Preflight Check appears automatically when you click Build My Website (either choosing a template or opting for a custom design) on your Website Dashboard. You cannot skip it — all five acknowledgments must be checked before the Submit Website Build button becomes active.
Step 1: Review Your Text Content #
BookLive reminds you that the text on your website pages — your bio, service descriptions, page copy — cannot be changed during the design process. It can be updated after your site launches, but your designer works from a snapshot of your content at submission time.
- Click Review My Content to open your website pages and read through everything carefully.
- Make any edits you need in the Act Bio, Services, and Pages tabs before returning to this dialog.
- Check the box to confirm your text is ready for the designer.
Step 2: Confirm Your Photos #
Your designer will pull from the photos you’ve uploaded in the Website Photos tab. Not every photo will necessarily appear in the final design, but the designer uses your uploaded library as their source material.
- Click Review My Photos to open the Website Photos tab and verify your uploads.
- Add, remove, or replace any photos as needed.
- Check the box to confirm your photos are ready.
Step 3: Confirm Your Colors & Fonts #
If you entered branding preferences in the Branding tab (specific colors, fonts, or style notes), BookLive displays them here so you can review them one final time before submission.
- If preferences are shown, read through them and check the box to confirm they’re accurate.
- If no preferences were provided, the box reads: “I understand the designer will select colors and fonts for my website, taking inspiration from my text, photos, and videos.” Check it to confirm you’re comfortable with the designer making those choices.
To change your branding preferences before proceeding, cancel the dialog, go to the Branding tab, update your notes, and then restart the build process.
Step 4: Confirm Reviews Authenticity #
BookLive scans your website pages for testimonials and reviews — including those on your Home page, Reviews page, and Service pages — and displays them for your review.
All reviews and testimonials must be authentic and from real clients. AI-generated or fabricated reviews are not permitted and may result in your website being taken down.
- Read through each testimonial and review shown.
- If any are not from real clients, cancel the dialog and remove them from your website pages before resubmitting.
- Check the box confirming all reviews are genuine.
If no reviews or testimonials are found in your content, you’ll see a confirmation to that effect and simply check the acknowledgment to proceed.
Step 5: Video Validation #
BookLive scans every video URL across your website pages and checks whether it points to a valid YouTube or Vimeo link. Videos hosted elsewhere may not display correctly on your finished site.
- Videos marked with a green checkmark are valid and ready to use.
- Videos marked with a red error icon have invalid URLs. Click Edit next to any flagged video to jump directly to that page and fix the link.
If you have invalid video URLs, you can still proceed by checking the acknowledgment box and accepting that those videos may not display correctly. However, it’s recommended to fix all issues before submitting.
If no videos are present in your content, you’ll see a note confirming that and can check the acknowledgment to continue.
Submitting Your Build #
Once all five steps are acknowledged, the Submit Website Build button becomes active. Click it to send your content to the BookLive design team. You’ll see your Dashboard status update to reflect that your build has been submitted.
From this point, the design team will work on your homepage first. You’ll be notified when a draft is ready for your approval.
Tips & Notes #
- You can navigate back and forth between preflight steps using the Back and Next buttons without losing your acknowledgments.
- If you need to make changes mid-preflight, click Cancel — this closes the dialog without submitting, and you can return to it after making edits.
- The Preflight Check runs fresh each time you open it, so any changes you make between attempts will be reflected in the review.
