Configuring Artist Pay Rates

BookLive provides flexible options for managing how musicians are compensated for performances. This guide covers setting up pay rates at both the group and individual level.

Payment Configuration Levels #

Artist compensation in BookLive can be configured at multiple levels:

  • Group Level – Default rates via Quote Rules
  • Performance Level – Custom rates for specific gigs
  • Seat Level – Individual payments per musician per performance

Quote Rules: Group Default Pricing #

Quote Rules define your group’s standard pricing structure. They include:

  • Hourly rate – Base rate per hour
  • Duration options – Preset packages (1 hour, 2 hours, etc.)
  • Add-ons – Extra services with additional pricing
  • Event type associations – Different rates for different event types

Setting Seat-Level Payments #

Each seat in a performance has its own payment configuration:

  • Payment amount – What the musician earns for this gig
  • Expected tip amount – Anticipated tips (optional)
  • Payment method – How they’ll be paid
  • Payment info – Additional payment details
  • Hospitality info – Meal/refreshment arrangements

Payment Methods #

BookLive supports several payment methods:

  • BookLive Pay – Direct payment through the platform
  • ACH Bank Transfer – Direct deposit to bank account
  • Check – Traditional paper check
  • Cash – In-person cash payment
  • Direct Payment – Outside payment arrangement

Tracking Artist Payments #

BookLive maintains detailed payment records:

  • Payment amount – What was paid
  • Tip tracking – Separate tracking for tips
  • Platform fees – BookLive fees if applicable
  • Payment method – How payment was made
  • Performance link – Which gig the payment is for

Viewing Payment History #

To view artist payment history:

  1. Navigate to your group settings
  2. Go to Artist Payments
  3. View all payments made to musicians
  4. Filter by date, artist, or performance

Best Practices #

  • Set clear rates upfront – Define standard rates in your Quote Rules
  • Communicate payment terms – Let artists know when and how they’ll be paid
