BookLive lets you create reusable discount templates for your group and apply them to individual gigs whenever needed. Whether you’re offering a loyalty discount to a returning client, running a seasonal promotion, or adjusting pricing for a last-minute booking, discounts give you a clean way to reduce a gig’s total without manually editing line items. This guide walks you through both steps: creating discount templates and applying them to a performance.
Part 1: Creating Discount Templates #
Discount templates are reusable presets you define once at the group level. Once saved, they’re available to apply to any gig with just a click.
- Log in at https://booklive.com/login.
- Navigate to your group by clicking your group name in the top navigation or sidebar.
- In the left sidebar, click Finances to expand the section.
- Click Discounts.
- Click the + button (top-right of the Discounts table) to open the Create a Discount dialog.
- Enter a Discount name — for example, Returning Client 10% or $100 Off Special.
- Choose your discount type:
- Check Fixed percentage? and enter a percentage (e.g., 15) to deduct a percentage of the gig total.
- Leave the box unchecked and enter a dollar Amount (e.g., 100) for a flat dollar discount.
- Click Save. The discount now appears in your Discounts list and is ready to use on any gig.
Part 2: Editing or Deleting a Discount Template #
To change an existing discount template, go to Finances > Discounts, then click the pencil icon next to the discount you want to edit. Update the name, amount, or type, then click Save.
To permanently remove a discount template, click the trash icon next to it. You’ll be prompted to confirm before it’s deleted. Deleting a template does not affect any gigs where that discount has already been applied.
Part 3: Applying a Discount to a Gig #
Once your discount templates are set up, you can apply them to individual performances directly from the gig view.
- Open the performance from your calendar or gig list.
- Click the Services tab inside the performance (this is where your service offerings and pricing are listed).
- In the pricing breakdown area, click + Add Discount.
- In the Add a Discount dialog:
- Use the Choose a discount dropdown to select an existing template from your group’s saved discounts.
- Or, click Create New Discount to define a one-off discount inline without saving it as a template.
- Verify the Amount or Percentage shown is correct (it auto-populates from the template but can be adjusted).
- Click Add. The discount will appear in the pricing breakdown and the gig total will update automatically.
Tips & Notes #
- Percentage discounts are calculated against the gig’s total services amount at the time the discount is applied. If you add or remove services later, the discount amount stays fixed — it won’t automatically recalculate.
- Multiple discounts can be applied to the same gig if needed.
- To remove a discount from a gig, click the delete icon next to it in the Services tab. This does not delete the template — only its application to that gig.
- Discounts appear on the client-facing invoice, so clients can see exactly what they’re saving.
- Only group leaders have permission to create discount templates and apply discounts to performances.
