Cropping Your Profile and Cover Photos and Setting a Focus Point in BookLive

Your group’s profile photo and cover photo are the first things clients see on your public BookLive profile. When you upload either one, BookLive opens a photo editor so you can crop it before it’s saved. For cover photos, the editor also lets you set a focus point, which tells BookLive which part of the image to keep in view on narrower screens such as phones.

Before You Begin #

  • You must be a leader of the group to change its profile or cover photo.
  • Both the profile photo and cover photo accept image files up to 8MB.
  • Use a wide, high-quality image for your cover photo. It’s saved at a 3:1 ratio (three times as wide as it is tall).

Step 1: Open Your Group Profile #

  1. Log in at https://booklive.com/login.
  2. Select your group, then click Marketing in the left sidebar and open Profile.
  3. Find the Photos section. It shows your current Profile Photo and Cover Photo.

You can also change your cover photo from your group’s main page by clicking Change Cover Photo over the header image. It opens the same editor.

Step 2: Crop Your Profile Photo #

  1. Click the circular Profile Photo (or the placeholder camera icon if you haven’t added one yet).
  2. Choose an image from your computer. The photo editor opens with a round crop window.
  3. Drag the image to reposition it, and use the zoom slider (or your mouse wheel) to zoom in or out until your subject fills the circle.
  4. Use Rotate (left or right) if the photo is sideways, or Reset to undo your adjustments.
  5. Click Save Photo.

Square images work best, because your profile photo is shown as a circle in search results, cards, and across the app.

Step 3: Crop Your Cover Photo and Set a Focus Point #

  1. Click the Cover Photo banner and choose an image from your computer. The editor opens with a wide 3:1 crop window.
  2. Drag and zoom the image so the part you want fills the window. A box labelled Phone inside the crop window marks the area that is still visible on the narrowest screens.
  3. Under Focus point, click the photo preview on the spot you want kept centered on every screen size, such as the face of your lead singer or the middle of your band. A dot marks your choice.
  4. Check the How it lands previews. They show how your cover appears at three shapes: Wide (desktop header), Medium (tablet and cards), and Small (phone).
  5. Adjust the crop or focus point until all three previews look right, then click Save Photo.

The app header, your public profile hero, and your proposal hero all start from the same 3:1 image. Wider spaces show a thinner slice, and narrower spaces trim the sides, and in each case they stay centered on your focus point.

Tips & Notes #

  • Changing only the focus point. Upload the same image again and move the focus point. The editor starts from your last saved focus point.
  • Choosing another image. Click Cancel to close the editor without saving, then pick a different file.
  • Image won’t load. If the editor says the image could not be loaded, click Choose another and try a different JPEG, PNG, or WebP file. Very large images (over roughly 60 megapixels) are rejected, so resize them first.
  • Photo orientation. BookLive applies the orientation your camera recorded, so phone photos taken sideways open the right way up. Camera metadata is removed when the photo is saved.
  • Gallery photos. Photos in your Media Library use their own 3:2 crop. See the related article below.
