Song Discovery gives you access to BookLive’s master song catalog — a curated database of songs that musicians across the BookLive platform have performed at real events. Each song comes with popularity data, earnings benchmarks, and direct links to sheet music and backing tracks so you can evaluate and add new songs to your repertoire with minimal research.
What You Can Do with Song Discovery #
- Browse popular songs sorted by how often they’re performed at events
- See average earnings per performance to understand the commercial value of each song
- Access resources like sheet music, backing tracks, and YouTube/Spotify links for any song in the catalog
- Add songs directly to your group’s song library with one click
Before You Begin #
- You must have at least one Music Collection set up in your Song Library to import songs into. See Adding and Managing Songs in Your Library if you need to create one.
- Pro plan members have access to the full catalog. Free plan members see a limited preview of 10 songs.
Step 1: Open Song Discovery #
- Log in at https://booklive.com/login and go to your group dashboard.
- Navigate to Songs in the left sidebar.
- Look for the Song Discovery tab or button at the top of the Songs section.
Step 2: Browse and Search the Catalog #
The catalog displays all available master songs. You can narrow it down using the search bar or sort by different criteria.
Searching #
Type in the search bar to filter by song title, artist, album, or genre. Results update as you type.
Sorting Options #
Use the sort controls to order songs by:
- Times Performed — How many times the song has been performed across all BookLive groups (default, highest first)
- Total Earnings — Total revenue generated from performances of this song
- Avg. Performance Value — Average earnings per performance (useful for identifying high-value songs)
- Title or Artist — Alphabetical sorting
- Date Added — Newest catalog entries first
Step 3: Review Song Details #
Each song card in the catalog shows:
- Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Release Year
- Times Performed — How popular this song is across the BookLive platform
- Total Earnings — Cumulative earnings for this song across all performances
- Avg. Performance Value — Average revenue per performance (a proxy for how often it’s requested at premium events)
- Already in Library — Songs you’ve already added are marked so you don’t add duplicates
Viewing Resources #
Click a song to open its detail view or resources panel. Depending on availability, you may see links to:
- YouTube — A reference recording to hear the song
- Spotify — Stream the original recording
- Piano/Vocal Score — Sheet music for piano and vocals
- Guitar Chords — Chord chart for guitar players
- Backing Track — A playback track for rehearsal or performance use
- String Quartet Sheet Music — Arranged parts for string ensembles
Not all songs have all resource types — availability varies by song.
Step 4: Add a Song to Your Library #
- Find the song you want to add.
- Click Add to Library on the song card or in the detail view.
- A prompt will ask which Music Collection to add it to — select the appropriate collection (e.g., “Cocktail Hour,” “Ceremony,” or your main repertoire list).
- Click Add to confirm.
The song is immediately added to your Song Library and linked to the master catalog entry, so BookLive can continue tracking performance data for it.
If the song title and artist already exist in your library, BookLive will link them together without creating a duplicate.
Tips & Notes #
- Pro plan required for full access: Free plan accounts see a 10-song preview. Upgrade to a Pro plan to browse and import the complete catalog.
- Data reflects real event activity: Song popularity and earnings figures are aggregated from actual BookLive performances — not streaming data. High numbers indicate songs that clients actively request at weddings, corporate events, and other private gigs.
- Avg. Performance Value is a benchmark: A high average value suggests the song tends to appear on higher-paying gigs. Use this to identify songs that could strengthen your premium event repertoire.
- Resources speed up learning: Take advantage of the linked sheet music and backing tracks to learn new songs faster, especially for custom requests.
