Email Attachments in Performance Inbox

This article covers the current status of email attachment handling in the Performance Inbox feature.

Current Attachment Support #

The Performance Inbox is primarily designed for text-based email communication with clients. At this time, attachment handling has limited support.

Sending Attachments #

The email composer in the Performance Inbox currently does not support adding file attachments to outgoing emails. When you compose a new email or reply to a message, you can include text content only.

Receiving Attachments #

When clients send emails with attachments to your performance inbox address, the text content of their message will be captured and displayed in the inbox. However, file attachments (PDFs, images, documents, etc.) may not be stored or accessible through the Performance Inbox interface.

Workarounds for Sharing Files #

Until full attachment support is available, consider these alternatives for exchanging files with clients:

Use Cloud Storage Links #

Instead of attaching files directly, upload documents to a cloud storage service and share the link in your email:

  • Google Drive – Upload the file and generate a shareable link
  • Dropbox – Create a shared link for any file
  • OneDrive – Share files with anyone via link

Include the link in your email body and clients can easily access the files.

Use Performance Attachments #

BookLive has a separate attachments feature for performances. You can upload files directly to a performance record:

  1. Go to the performance page
  2. Find the Attachments section
  3. Upload your files (contracts, PDFs, images, etc.)
  4. These files can be shared with musicians and clients through the portal

This keeps important documents organized within the performance record rather than scattered across email threads.

Use Your Regular Email Client #

For emails that require attachments, you can:

  • Send the email from your regular email client (Gmail, Outlook, etc.)
  • Include attachments as needed
  • The reply will still come to the Performance Inbox if the client uses Reply All to the inbox address

Asking Clients to Resend Files #

If a client sends important attachments to the Performance Inbox and you cannot access them, you can:

  • Ask them to resend the files to your direct email address
  • Request they upload files to a shared folder
  • Have them use the Client Portal if document upload is available there

Future Improvements #

The BookLive team is aware of the need for attachment handling in the Performance Inbox. The underlying infrastructure for attachments exists in the system, and full support may be added in a future update.

Best Practices #

  • Use cloud links – Share files via Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar services
