Planning Your Sizzle Reel in BookLive

The Sizzle Reel Planner helps you organize your best performance footage into a polished marketing highlight video — typically 2–4 minutes long — that you can use to attract new clients. You identify the exact clips and timestamps you want, and BookLive’s Dream Team can even assemble the finished video for you. You’ll find the Sizzle Reel Planner under Marketing in your left sidebar.

What Is a Sizzle Reel? #

A sizzle reel is a short highlight video built from your best 10–30 second performance clips. Think of it as your musical portfolio in video form. You can create separate reels for different event types — for example, one for weddings, one for corporate events, and one general-purpose reel — so you always have the right video to share with a prospect.

Step 1: Create a New Sizzle Reel #

  1. Log in to BookLive at https://booklive.com/login.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Marketing, then select Sizzle Reel Planner.
  3. Click New Sizzle Reel.
  4. Enter a name for the reel (e.g., Wedding, Corporate Events, General) and click Create.

Your new reel opens automatically so you can start adding clips right away.

Step 2: Add Clips to Your Reel #

Each clip represents a specific segment of raw footage that will appear in the finished video.

  1. On the reel detail page, click Add Clip.
  2. Fill in the clip details:
    • Song Title (required) — The name of the song playing in this clip (e.g., This Is What You Came For).
    • Source File Name — The raw video file this clip comes from (e.g., Austin Gig 2025). This helps your editor locate the footage.
    • Start Time / End Time — The exact in and out points in hh:mm:ss format (e.g., 01:35:40 to 01:36:10).
    • Notes — Any special instructions for the editor, such as camera angle preferences or transition requests.
  3. Optionally, attach a video source so the editor has direct access to the footage:
    • Pick from Media Library — Select any video already in your BookLive Media Library.
    • Add New Video — Paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Google Drive, or Dropbox; or upload a video file directly (up to 500 MB per file). Uploaded files count against your 2 GB storage quota shown at the bottom of the clips list.
  4. Click Add Clip to save.

Repeat this process for each segment you want in the reel. Aim for 3–7 clips total.

Step 3: Arrange Your Clips #

The order of clips in the list determines the order they appear in the finished video. To reorder, drag any clip by the grip handle on the left side of its row and drop it in the desired position.

To edit or remove a clip, click the pencil or trash icon on the right side of its row. Removing a clip from the reel does not delete the video from your Media Library.

Step 4: Rename a Reel #

To rename an existing reel, click the pencil icon next to the reel name at the top of the planner. Edit the name, then press Enter or click Save. The change saves immediately.

Step 5: Request Dream Team Editing (Optional) #

Once you have at least three clips added with start and end times, you can request the BookLive Dream Team to edit and deliver a finished sizzle reel for you.

  1. On the reel detail page, scroll down to the Dream Team Editing card.
  2. Click Request Editing.
  3. Review the requirements in the confirmation dialog — your reel must have 3–7 clips with start and end times set, with a total runtime between 1 and 5 minutes — then click Submit Request.

After submitting, your clips are locked (you cannot add, edit, or reorder them while the request is being processed). The status chip on the Dream Team Editing card updates as the team works:

  • Pending — Request received, editing not yet started.
  • In Progress — The Dream Team is actively editing your reel.
  • Completed — Your finished reel is ready. A Finished Sizzle Reel link appears at the top of the page so you can view and download it.

Managing Your Reels #

The Sizzle Reel Planner home screen shows all of your reels as cards, each displaying the reel name, number of clips, and a Completed badge if the Dream Team has delivered a finished video. Click Open Planner on any card to go back into that reel.

To permanently delete a reel and all of its clips, click the trash icon on the reel card and confirm the deletion. This cannot be undone.

Tips & Notes #

  • Create separate reels for different event types so you can quickly share the most relevant video with each prospect.
  • Even if you plan to edit the video yourself, the Sizzle Reel Planner is a great way to organize your clip selection before opening a video editor.
  • Set precise start and end times for every clip — this is required before you can submit a Dream Team editing request.
  • Uploaded video files count against your 2 GB storage quota. If you’re approaching the limit, link to external sources (YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox) instead of uploading directly.
