Requesting an Area Sweep for Event Opportunities in BookLive

When you’re browsing the Event Opportunities catalog and the results feel thin for your market, you can send a request directly to the BookLive Dream Team asking them to research more events in a specific area. This is called an area sweep. The Dream Team will find additional upcoming events — conventions, galas, corporate gatherings, festivals, and more — and add them to the shared catalog so you can discover and pitch them. This article explains when to use an area sweep and how to submit one.

Before You Begin #

  • Area sweeps are available on the BookLive Pro plan.
  • You must be a group leader to request a sweep.
  • Make sure your group location is set — it is used as the default area in the sweep dialog.
  • Area sweeps are free — submitting one does not use any Dream Team time allocation.

Step 1: Open the Discover Tab in Event Opportunities #

  1. Go to https://booklive.com/login and sign in.
  2. In the left sidebar, click your group name to open your group dashboard.
  3. Expand Gig Vault in the navigation.
  4. Click Event Opportunities.
  5. Click Discover in the sub-navigation to open the event catalog.

Step 2: Open the Area Sweep Dialog #

There are two ways to open the sweep dialog from the Discover tab:

  • Toolbar button: Click Request area sweep in the toolbar at the top of the Discover page.
  • Empty state link: If your current filters return no results, a message appears that includes a request a sweep of this area link. Clicking it opens the same dialog.

Step 3: Configure Your Sweep Request #

The area sweep dialog opens pre-filled with your current Discover filters and your group’s location as a starting point. Review and adjust the following fields:

  1. Country — Select United States, Canada, or Mexico.
  2. City — Enter the city you want researched (for example, Denver or Nashville).
  3. State / Province — Select the state or province from the dropdown. This field clears automatically if you change the country.
  4. Guidance (optional) — Add a note to steer the research. For example: I’d like to see more conventions and corporate galas or Focus on venues with 200+ capacity. The guidance field accepts up to 2,000 characters.

As you fill in the fields, the We’ll search line in the dialog updates to show a plain-language summary of what the Dream Team will search, including the city, state, country, radius (if set in your active filters), event type (if filtered), and any date range you have active. Confirm this looks correct before submitting.

Step 4: Submit the Request #

Click Request sweep. BookLive sends the request to the Dream Team and you’ll see a confirmation message at the bottom of the screen once it’s submitted. The Dream Team will research events matching your area and add them to the catalog — check back on the Discover tab over the following days to see new results.

Tips & Notes #

  • Duplicate protection: If you submit a sweep for the exact same area twice within five minutes, BookLive will display a message asking you to wait before requesting again.
  • Radius filter: If you have a radius filter active on the Discover tab when you open the dialog, it is included in the sweep summary automatically.
  • Event type filter: If you have an event type filter active (for example, “Convention”), that type is also passed along with the request so the team knows what kind of events to prioritize.
  • No monthly time deducted: Area sweeps are free and do not draw from your Dream Team monthly allocation.
  • International support: Distances in the summary are shown in miles for US sweeps and kilometers for Canada and Mexico.
