Setting Up Travel Time Estimation

BookLive can calculate travel time from your location to performance venues, helping you plan your schedule and know when to leave.

How Travel Time Works #

When you set a starting address, BookLive:

• Calculates driving distance to each venue
• Estimates travel time based on typical conditions
• Adds travel time to your calendar events
• Helps you see the full time commitment for each gig

Setting Your Starting Address #

To configure your starting address:

1. Go to Settings
2. Click the Google Calendar tab
3. Find the Starting Address field
4. Enter your home address or primary location
5. The address will be validated
6. Save your changes

What Address to Use #

Choose the address you typically travel from:

• Home address – If you leave from home for gigs
• Work address – If you often go directly from work
• Rehearsal space – If you pick up equipment first

You can only set one starting address. Choose the location you travel from most often.

How Travel Time is Calculated #

Travel time estimates are based on:

• Driving distance between your starting address and the venue
• Typical driving conditions
• Standard speed estimates

Note: Estimates may not account for:

• Real-time traffic conditions
• Rush hour delays
• Construction or road closures
• Weather conditions

Always add buffer time for unexpected delays.

Travel Time in Calendar Events #

When travel time is calculated, your calendar events may show:

• Estimated travel time in the event details
• Suggested departure time
• Extended event duration to account for travel

Updating Your Starting Address #

If you move or change your primary location:

1. Go to Settings > Google Calendar
2. Update the starting address field
3. Save your changes
4. Existing calendar events will be recalculated

Tips for Accuracy #

• Use a complete address – Include street, city, state, and zip
• Verify the location – Make sure Google Maps recognizes it correctly
• Add buffer time – Travel estimates are optimistic; add 15-30 minutes
• Check before leaving – Use real-time navigation apps for current conditions

Without a Starting Address #

If you do not set a starting address:

• Travel time will not be calculated
• Calendar events show only performance time plus setup time
• You will need to calculate travel separately
