Client tags in BookLive let you label and organize your clients with custom keywords — things like “Wedding Expo 2026 Leads,” “Corporate Clients,” or “Referred by Venue Partner.” Once tagged, you can filter your client list by tag in seconds and use tags to enroll targeted groups of clients in automated workflows. This article covers how to add, create, remove, and filter by client tags.
Where to Find Client Tags #
- Log in at https://booklive.com/login.
- Click Clients in the left sidebar.
- Click the name of a client to open their record.
- Scroll down the right sidebar until you see the TAGS card.
The Tags card displays all tags currently assigned to that client. If no tags have been added yet, it shows No tags assigned.
Adding a Tag to a Client #
- Open the client record and locate the TAGS card in the right sidebar.
- Click the Add tags… autocomplete field.
- Start typing to search your group’s existing tags, or scroll the list to browse.
- Click a tag to select it. You can select multiple tags at once.
Selected tags are applied immediately and appear as color chips in the Tags card. There is no separate Save button — the assignment happens as soon as you choose a tag.
Creating a New Tag #
If none of your existing tags fit, you can create a new one without leaving the client record.
- In the TAGS card, click + Create New Tag (below the autocomplete field).
- In the dialog that appears, enter a tag name.
- Click Create & Add.
The new tag is saved to your group’s tag library and immediately applied to the client. It will be available to assign to any other client going forward.
Removing a Tag #
To remove a tag from a client, click the × on the tag chip in the TAGS card. The tag is removed from that client only — it remains in your group’s tag library and stays on any other clients it was applied to.
Filtering Your Client List by Tag #
Tags become most powerful when you use them to filter your client list.
- Click Clients in the left sidebar to open the client list.
- Click the Filter by Tags dropdown near the top of the list.
- Select one or more tags.
The client list immediately narrows to show only clients with at least one of the selected tags. Tag chips are also visible in the Tags column of the list, so you can see each client’s labels at a glance without opening individual records.
Assigning Tags During a CSV Import #
When importing clients in bulk, you can assign one or more tags to every client in the import at once — useful for labeling a batch of leads from a specific source.
- Go to Clients and click Import Clients.
- Complete Step 1 (upload your CSV file).
- In Step 2 (Configure), find the Tags field.
- Select existing tags or type a new name and press Enter to create one on the fly.
- Finish the import wizard. Every successfully imported client will have those tags applied.
This is especially useful for event-specific batches: for example, tagging every lead from a bridal show so you can filter and follow up with them later.
Using Tags to Enroll Clients in Workflows #
When using Bulk Enrollment to start an automated workflow for multiple clients at once, you can filter by tag to target the right audience.
- Open the workflow you want to run and click Bulk Enroll.
- In the Filter by Tags field, select one or more tags.
- The client table will load only clients matching those tags.
- Select the clients you want to enroll and proceed with enrollment.
This makes tags a core part of your marketing segmentation — tag clients by source, interest, or stage, then enroll each segment in the appropriate follow-up sequence.
Tips & Notes #
- Tags are group-scoped — tags created in your group are shared across all clients and musicians in that group, but are not visible to other BookLive groups.
- The same tag system is used for songs. Tags you create for clients do not appear in your song library, and vice versa.
- There is no limit on the number of tags you can create or assign to a client.
- Tags can be created during a CSV import — you don’t need to pre-create them before importing.
