BookLive recognizes that many musicians wear two hats: they are both performers who play gigs AND leaders who manage groups and book performances for others. The gig toggle feature lets you switch between these two perspectives, showing you different data based on your role.
Understanding the Two Views #
Gigs I am Playing #
This view shows performances where you are assigned to perform:
- Performances where you have a seat assignment
- Your individual earnings (seat payment amounts)
- Upcoming gigs where you need to show up and play
- Great for tracking your personal performance schedule
Gigs I Manage #
This view shows performances from groups you lead:
- All performances booked by your groups
- Total group earnings (standard payment amounts)
- Performances you have coordinated, even if you are not playing
- Ideal for managing your business operations
How to Switch Views #
- Navigate to your Group Home Dashboard
- Look for the toggle buttons above the calendar
- Click Gigs I am Playing or Gigs I Manage
- The calendar and stats will update automatically
What Changes When You Toggle #
Calendar Events #
- Playing view: Shows only performances where you are assigned
- Managing view: Shows all performances from your groups
Statistics #
- Playing view: Earnings reflect your seat payments
- Managing view: Earnings reflect total group revenue
Booking Count #
- Playing view: Counts gigs you are personally performing
- Managing view: Counts all confirmed bookings for your groups
Your Selection is Remembered #
BookLive remembers your toggle preference:
- Your selection is saved in your browser
- When you return to the dashboard, it will show your last-used view
- This works across sessions until you clear your browser data
Use Cases #
As a Sideman/Freelancer #
If you primarily play gigs booked by others:
- Use Gigs I am Playing as your default view
- See only the gigs you need to prepare for
- Track your personal income accurately
As a Bandleader #
If you book and manage performances for your group:
- Use Gigs I Manage as your default view
- See all bookings you are responsible for
- Track total group revenue and booking volume
If You Do Both #
Many musicians do both! Toggle between views to:
- Check your personal schedule (Playing view)
- Review business performance (Managing view)
- Compare personal earnings vs. group revenue
Tips #
- Start with Playing view if you want to see your personal workload
- Switch to Managing view when doing business planning or financial reviews
- Compare both views to understand your contribution to group revenue
- Remember the colors: Green performances are confirmed in both views
