Tracking External Reviews on a Performance in BookLive

The Review tab on each performance lets you record a client review that was left on an external platform — Google, Yelp, The Knot, WeddingWire, Facebook, or anywhere else. Once saved, you can pull that review into automated workflow emails using simple template variables, turning real client feedback into compelling follow-up content without copying and pasting it by hand every time.

Before You Begin #

  • You must be a group leader or manager to add and edit performance reviews.
  • Log in at https://booklive.com/login and open the performance you want to work with.
  • The performance must already exist in BookLive. If you haven’t created it yet, add it first from your Performances list.

Step 1: Open the Review Tab #

  1. From the left sidebar, click Performances to open your performance list.
  2. Click the performance you want to add a review to.
  3. On the performance detail page, click the Review tab.

If no review has been added yet, you’ll see an empty state with an Add Review button.

Step 2: Add the External Review #

  1. Click Add Review.
  2. In the dialog that opens, fill in the following fields:
  • Review Source — Select the platform where the review was posted: Google, Yelp, The Knot, WeddingWire, Facebook, or Other.
  • Reviewer Name — Enter the name shown on the review.
  • Review Title (optional) — A short headline or title for the review, if the platform includes one.
  • Review Text — Copy and paste the full review text. This field is required.
  • Rating (optional) — Enter a numeric star rating between 1 and 5.
  • Date Received (optional) — The date the review was originally posted.
  • Review URL (optional) — A link to the original review online. This lets you or your team jump directly to the source.
  1. Click Add Review to save.

The review will now appear on the Review tab, showing the source platform as a colored badge (blue for Google, red for Yelp, pink for The Knot, and so on), the reviewer’s name, rating, and full review text.

Step 3: Edit or Delete a Review #

You can update or remove a saved review at any time.

  1. On the Review tab, click the three-dot menu () in the top-right corner of the review card.
  2. Choose Edit to update any field, or Delete to remove the review entirely.
  3. If editing, make your changes and click Save Changes.

Note: Each performance supports one tracked review. If you need to replace a review, delete the existing one and add a new one.

Step 4: Use the Review in Workflow Emails #

Once a review is saved on a performance, you can reference it in any workflow email that is enrolled from that performance. Use the following template variables in your email body:

  • [review_text] — The full review body text
  • [reviewer_name] — The name of the reviewer
  • [review_title] — The review title or headline
  • [review_rating] — The star rating (1–5)
  • [review_source] — The platform name (e.g., Google, The Knot)

For example, a follow-up workflow email to a new inquiry might include:

“Don’t just take our word for it — here’s what [reviewer_name] said after their event:
‘[review_text]’

When the workflow sends, BookLive automatically inserts the review content from the enrolled performance, so every email feels personal and specific.

Tips & Notes #

  • Review variables in workflow emails only populate when the enrollment is tied to a performance that has a review saved. If no review exists on the performance, the variable will be blank.
  • You can link directly to the original review by saving the Review URL — a View original review link will appear below the review text on the tab.
  • The review tracked here is separate from reviews collected through BookLive’s built-in auto-collect system (which requests reviews directly from clients). This feature is specifically for logging reviews that clients left on third-party platforms.
