Whether you’re ready to unlock BookLive’s advanced Pro tools or you need to step back to the Free plan, managing your subscription takes just a few clicks. This article walks you through how to upgrade from Free to Pro, how to downgrade back to Free, and what to expect during a billing grace period.
Before You Begin #
- To upgrade to Pro, you’ll need a valid credit or debit card saved to your account. If you haven’t added a payment method yet, see Updating Your Account Settings in BookLive.
- Subscription changes take effect immediately.
Step 1: Navigate to Your Subscription Settings #
- Log in to BookLive at booklive.com/login.
- In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or the grey avatar icon.
- Click Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Subscription tab.
Your current plan is displayed at the top of the Subscription tab, along with how many performances you’ve booked this month.
Step 2: Upgrade to Pro #
If you’re on the Free plan and want to upgrade to Pro ($40/month), follow these steps:
- On the Subscription tab, click Update Subscription.
- Review the available plan options. Select the Pro plan.
- A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the switch. Click Yes, I’m Sure to complete the upgrade.
Your Pro features activate immediately. You’ll be charged $40 for the first billing period starting today.
Step 3: Downgrade to Free #
If you’re on the Pro plan and want to return to the Free plan, you’ll cancel your Pro subscription. Your Pro access continues until the end of your current billing period — you won’t lose access right away.
- On the Subscription tab, scroll down to the Cancel Subscription section.
- Click the Update Subscription button in the cancel section.
- A confirmation dialog will appear asking if you’re sure. Click Yes, Cancel.
After cancelling, you’ll remain on Pro until the end of your current billing period. Once it expires, your account automatically returns to the Free plan.
Resuming a Cancelled Subscription #
If you cancelled your Pro subscription but change your mind before the billing period ends, you can resume it at no extra cost:
- Go to Settings → Subscription (see Step 1 above).
- You’ll see a notice confirming your cancellation and the date your Pro access ends.
- Click Resume next to the Pro plan to reactivate your subscription.
Your subscription will continue on its normal billing cycle — no charge is applied until the next billing date.
What Happens to Pro Features After Downgrading #
When your Pro subscription expires and your account reverts to Free, the following Pro-only features will become inactive:
- Express Booking Tool — The embedded booking widget will stop accepting new bookings.
- Pay Members via Direct Deposit — Musician payout functionality will be disabled.
- Personalized Business Cards — Pro-linked business cards will no longer be active.
- Customizable Pricing Packages — Custom packages won’t be presentable to new clients.
- Exclusive Pro Performance Opportunities — Access to Pro-only gig leads is removed.
- Automated Gig Promotion Tool — Automated promotions will stop running.
Your data — gigs, clients, contacts, setlists, and contracts — is never deleted when you downgrade. Everything will be right where you left it if you upgrade again in the future.
Tips & Notes #
- If no payment method is on file, the Update Subscription plan selector will be disabled. Add a card first under Settings → Payment Method.
- Subscription changes are processed in real time — there’s no waiting period.
- Billing receipts are available under Settings → Invoices. See Billing History and Receipts in BookLive for details.
- If you have questions about your billing or a charge, contact BookLive support at support.booklive.com.
