Photos are essential for making a great first impression. Your profile photo identifies your group throughout BookLive, while your cover photo creates an impactful visual banner on your public profile. This guide explains how to upload and manage both.

Profile Photo vs Cover Photo #

Profile Photo #

• Purpose: Identifies your group across BookLive
• Display: Circular format, appears in search results and profile cards
• Best for: Logo, group shot, or recognizable image
• Size: Square images work best (1:1 ratio)

Cover Photo #

• Purpose: Banner image at top of your public profile
• Display: Wide rectangular format, 240px height
• Best for: Action shots, performance photos, group portraits
• Size: Wide images work best (16:9 or similar ratio)
• Impact: Adds 15% to your profile completion

Uploading Your Profile Photo #

1. Navigate to your group dashboard
2. Click Settings in the sidebar
3. Find the Profile Photo section
4. Click the current photo or upload button
5. Select an image from your computer
6. The photo uploads and saves automatically

Photo Requirements #

Supported Formats #

• JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
• PNG (.png)
• GIF (.gif) – static only

Recommended Sizes #

• Profile Photo: At least 400×400 pixels
• Cover Photo: At least 1200×400 pixels

File Size #

• Maximum file size: 10MB
• Smaller files upload faster

• Use high contrast: Stands out in small circular display
• Keep it simple: Avoid busy backgrounds
• Show your identity: Logo or recognizable group shot
• Center the subject: Circular crop cuts off corners

Cover Photo Tips #

• Capture the action: Show your group performing
• Use good lighting: Well-lit photos look more professional
• Think horizontal: Wide shots work best
• Leave headroom: Important content centered vertically
• Show your best venue: Impressive settings impress clients

Changing Your Photos #

To update a photo:

1. Follow the same upload steps
2. Select a new image
3. The new photo replaces the old one automatically

There is no need to delete the old photo first – it is replaced automatically.

What If I Do Not Have Photos? #

If you do not upload photos:

• Profile Photo: A default placeholder is shown
• Cover Photo: A generic background image appears

We strongly recommend uploading custom photos to stand out from other groups.

Photo Storage #

• Photos are stored securely on Amazon S3
• They load quickly from global servers
• No additional storage fees for group photos

Troubleshooting #

Photo will not upload #

• Check the file size (must be under 10MB)
• Ensure it is a supported format (JPG, PNG, GIF)
• Try a different browser
• Check your internet connection

Photo looks stretched or cropped oddly #

• Profile photos should be square (1:1)
• Cover photos should be wide (16:9 or wider)
• Resize your image before uploading
