When clients submit song requests through the client portal, those requests are now surfaced directly inside the performance timeline — right alongside the event block they belong to. This means you can see which songs a client has asked for while building or reviewing the timeline, and jump straight to the request to approve, decline, or invoice without leaving the page.
How Song Requests Appear on the Timeline #
Open any performance and navigate to its timeline. If a timeline event has pending or declined song requests attached to it, a Song Requests section appears at the bottom of that event block. Each request shows:
- Song name and artist
- Status icon — an hourglass icon (orange) for requests that are Pending Review, or a cancel icon (red) for Declined requests
- Status chip — a color-coded label (“pending” or “declined”) at the right side of each row
- YouTube button — if the client provided a YouTube reference when making the request, a red play button appears so you can preview the song before approving
Approved requests are not shown — once a song request is approved it becomes part of your set list and is no longer flagged.
Opening a Request from the Timeline #
Click any row in the Song Requests section to open the full Song Requests page for your group, with that specific request already expanded. From there you can:
- Approve the request (and optionally charge an invoice line item)
- Decline the request with an explanation
- Review the matched BookLive master song resources (sheet music, backing track, etc.)
The Song Requests page opens in a new tab so you don’t lose your place in the timeline.
Tips & Notes #
- Song requests are linked to a specific timeline event — a request only appears under the event the client selected when submitting it.
- If a client submitted a request without selecting a specific event, or if the performance has no timeline, use the group-level Song Requests dashboard (under Gig Vault in the sidebar) to review all requests at once.
- The timeline song request count badge (shown next to the Song Requests heading) updates in real time as you approve or decline requests.
- Song requests must be enabled for your group before clients can submit them. You can toggle this in Group Settings.
